NOUN ilearn platform is another resource used by the National Open University of Nigeria to deliver lectures to their students. Unlike the open course ware, you must be a registered students to have access to this platform. It has in its features course videos, a forum where students interact and ask questions, students can also view and access their registered course on this portal as it is synchronized with the students’ information.

NOUN iLEARN is the new e-learning portal of the National Open University of Nigeria. It is specially designed to make your learning exciting and well rounded. Through NOUN iLEARN, you can interact with lecturers, ask question and get answers, meet and discuss with other students, download course materials and increase your network.

This platform was launched in February 2014 and have since been of invaluable support to NOUN students. Want to know more about NOUN iLearn? check out some of the frequently questions that will enable you effective utilize it for maximum impact on your academic success in NOUN:

My Registered courses are not appearing on iLEARN. What do I do?

Log on to your profile on the iLearn platform. Click on the “synchronize profile with portal pro” icon and all your courses will be automatically update.

How do I edit my profile?

To edit your profile, click on the “Edit profile” button on the home page and edit as you please. You can also edit your profile by clicking on your name at the top right hand corner of the homepage. A drop down list will appear showing “My Profile, Account Settings and Log Out”. Click on “My Profile” to edit. Please note that you cannot edit your name, matriculation number or email address on NOUN iLEARN. If you need to edit any of these for any reason, go to your registration portal on www.nou.edu.ng

How do I create a “to-do” list?

Click on the “Home” button on the site navigation menu, click on the “My dashboard” link and scroll down to the bottom of the dashboard. Click on the pencil icon to create a new “to-do” list.

How do I change my profile picture?

To change picture, click on the “Change Avatar” button on the home page, upload new picture and save. Note that you can edit your picture from a mobile device as well.

How do I participate in a class discussion?

Class discussions are platforms to interact with your facilitator and other students. They are usually started by facilitators and they are time bound. To participate, click on “My Courses” on the site navigation menu at the left of your page and select a course. You will be taken to the content tab on that course. Select the “Class Discussion” tab and select a discussion from the discussion list. You can view past discussions and make comments on active discussions (an active discussion has a green button in front of it)

How does “Ask A Question” work?

“Ask a Question” is a functionality that enables you ask your facilitators questions that relate to your course. Other students can also provide you answers. To use this feature, click on the “Ask a Question” tab on the site navigation menu and choose a course. A list of all previously asked questions on that course will be displayed. You can click on any of the questions to give your own answer. To ask your own question, click on the “New Question” button at the top of the list of previously asked questions. You will be taken to a “New Question” page. Give a title to your question, describe your question and click the “Create” button. Your question will appear on the list of previously asked questions and will be visible to your lecturer and other students.

How do I download the mobile App?

Download the mobile apps on the respective app stores. Go to the app store of choice and search for “NOUN iLEARN” or “NOUN iLEARN 2 Go”. Available apps include Blackberry (OS 10 and above), Android, J2ME.

How do I share a note?

To share a note, go to the smartbook and click on the portion from which you had earlier created the note. Click “Share” to friends or to groups. Note: you can only share notes with friends or groups you belong to.

How do I find a person that isn’t currently in my friend list?

You can find a new user to add as friend by typing in the person’s name in the search bar at the top of the “Classmates” or ” My Study Center” page.

How do I logout?

Click on your name at the top right corner of the home page. Click on logout.

I can’t log in to the mobile app

You need to register as a student on the NOUN iLEARN web portal before you can log in to the mobile app.

How do I send messages on the platform?

Click on “My Messages”. Click on “Compose”. Select the friend you wish to send a message to. Click on “New Message”, type in your message and send.

How to I view/download my course multimedia contents?

Click on the “My Courses” tab on the Navigation bar at the left of your page, select a course. When a course is selected, you land on the content tab on that course. You can view all your videos and audios at the top of the page. You can also view the

What are the General forums for and how do I join/subscribe?

General forums are for you to connect with other students and share knowledge on a wide range of topics. To join a forum, click on “General Forum”, click on “All Sub-forums”. Select a forum of choice. Click on existing threads (topics) and subscribe. You may also start a new thread.

Does subscribing to a thread mean paying to receive notifications for that thread topic?

No. It simply means that anytime a contribution is made to that thread, you’ll receive a notification.

Is there a limit to the number of threads I can subscribe to?

No. You can subscribe to as many threads as you want.

How do I stop receiving notifications for subscribed threads?

Go to the thread and simply “unsubscribe” to that thread.

How do I download course material contents?

Click on the “My Courses” tab on the Navigation bar at the left of your page, select a course. When a course is selected, you land on the content tab on that course. To download the course material, select the read smartbook link which will take y

Select the chat now button at the bottom of the page, and select a friend from your list of friends.

Why can’t I see people online?

You can online chat with your NOUN iLEARN friends on this platform. You must have friends first before you can use the chat platform.

How do I change my profile picture when using ILEARN on my mobile phone?

You can only change your profile picture when using ILEARN on your computer or laptop. Log in on your computer or laptop and change you profile picture by clicking the “CHANGE AVATAR” button on your dashboard.

Go to the login page (www.nounilearn.edu.ng). If you are logging in for the first time, click the “First Time User” bar on the login page. Create your profile by entering your matriculation number. Return to login page and sign in with your matric number or email address and enter your password.
